Time to Quit Smoking
So you've finally decided it's time to give up the old habit of smoking. You've decided that all of the negatives are outweighing the positives by a long shot. Now, you're looking for an easy way to break the habit. Here are a few strategies to help you become a "clean air breather". 1. Decide on a Quit Date. Mark your calendar and tell everyone that you know, of your intention. Make your date no more than two weeks away. 2. Start to alter your habits to make the final change easier. Switch from coffee to tea in the morning if you associate a cigarette with coffee. Make the house and car off limits for cigarettes. Find other ways to start breaking up your usual habits. 3. Keep your cigarettes put away (and ashtrays). Don't carry them with you. Then if you want one, you have to physically go and get one. 4. Start drinking more water and take Vitamin C. 5. Learn some relaxation techniques such as meditation, self-hypnosis or just some deep breathing exercises. 6. Make a list of all of the benefits you will receive by being smoke-free. 7. On your quit day, repeat a saying as you go through your day such as "I am smoke-free and I feel wonderful." Repeat all of the benefits to yourself. Use your relaxation techniques. 8. Remember that it only takes 3-4 days for the physical addition to be gone. And think of all the rest of the days of your life FREE of the habit. Those 3 or 4 days in relation to the rest of your life are just a drop in the bucket. You can do it. Please make your time NOW.
